I have mentioned a few times the importance of working at your marriage, especially after you have children. However, I have NEVER said that it is easy. Parenting life, and just life, in general, can get really tough. Sometimes money is tight, kids are sick, or babysitters flake out. This is why I created this list of dates for parents on a budget.

Dates For Parents On A Budget
When it comes to being busy, tired, and strapped for cash one of the first things to go out the window is usually date nights. However, they are super beneficial when it comes to the strength of your marriage. Before I share with you my on a budget date ideas, I want to give you a few tips and tricks on ways to cut costs on date nights.
Look For Daily Deals
Sites like Groupon are full of awesome ways to save money and get good deals for date night. You sign up based on your location so you get updates that are from your area. You can pre-purchase tickets at discounted prices. However, the benefits don’t stop there. By using sites like Groupon you might discover new activities in your area that you didn’t know about.
*Side note, just be sure to read the fine print on ANYTHING that you purchase from ANY website. You don’t want any surprises that could potentially ruin your date night!
Coupons And Restaurant Deals
Another awesome idea is to check out restaurant.com and your local newspaper or news sites to find coupons or deals for your local eateries. I have personally found deals for up to 50% off of some of my local restaurants.

Go Out On A Weeknight
Some of the slowest nights for eateries and entertainment businesses are on weeknights because most people work during the week and are too tired to do anything. Many of our local places have deals or specials on certain weeknights to try to bring in more traffic on those slow days/nights. Added bonus, it is usually easier to find a babysitter on a weeknight too!
Go Out Earlier
Movie matinees can sometimes save you up to 50% off, which seeing as how movies are upwards of $18-$20 now that sounds like a wonderful deal! And a lot of restaurants have happy hour or cheaper prices earlier in the day.
Look Into Memberships And Season Passes
Keep an eye out for memberships and season passes. These usually come at a discounted price. Added bonus, you could get memberships or passes for activities that you can enjoy as a couple, but also as a family with your kids.

I know how tough it can be to work in dates nights with the spouse and it can feel a little like you are eliminating the spontaneity that you had before you were married or had kids. However, the negative effects of not having a date night or the time to reconnect as a couple scares me more than the loss of a little spontaneity. I hope you find this list of dates for parents on a budget inspiring. Be creative. Do a little research. I promise it is all worth it!

We are going to be doing stay at home dates for a while. Which means the kids will be getting involved. Gotta make it fun around here.
I completely understand. My husband and I are in the same boat. We are having to get creative. I am actually thinking of writing an in-home date post. I wrote one for Valentine’s Day for Parents that can’t find babysitters! 🙂 Good luck, Mama, during all this craziness! Stay safe! Stay healthy!
