Yesterday, was my day to post Inspirational Women Wednesday. However, I didn’t get it completed. Honestly, I didn’t even get a post started. I found myself procrastinating and just not feeling up to the task. All morning the saying “write what you know,” ran circles in my head. Therefore, I have decided to share my tips for finding inspiration.
Tips For Finding Inspiration
1. Research
This one is huge for me!
“Writers often get inspiration from other writers. Often times, if I am feeling stuck I can find motivation for my next blog topic by immersing myself in other blogs.” -ME
This helps propel my writing. It helps inspire me to share my own stories and sometimes I even get topic ideas from reading other blogs. It is also great to bounce topic ideas back and forth with some of my fellow blogging friends. Topic ideas and inspiration can also come from my own words. Therefore, some days I just scroll through my blog and see if anything “speaks” to me.
2. Alone Time (Get Centered)
As much as I love and adore my children, I am constantly with them. I’m a stay-at-home mom and one or both of my boys are always with me. I am blessed beyond words that I am able to stay at home with my boys. However, it is still taxing on my energy and mental health. If I continue to give and give, without taking the time to refill my tank then I won’t have enough energy or inspiration to put into writing or other creative outlets.
So take time for a bubble bath, trip to the beauty shop, or a moment to finish your coffee without having to reheat it a gazillion
3. Prioritize Your Goals
Write down your tasks for the day. I keep a planner in my kitchen with a list of “to-dos” on each day. Then ask yourself what really needs to get done today? I try to keep my “musts” to 3 or 4 a day or I tend to get overwhelmed and if I don’t get them accomplished I feel like I “failed” for the day. This is a great way to help you stay prioritized and to help you feel accomplished at the end of the day.

4. Music
Music can be an excellent source of inspiration. It has the power to evoke so many emotions, which can lead to inspiration and motivation to write or do whatever it is that you need to do. So turn on the radio or turn up your favorite artist and let your mind wander.
5. Stay Healthy
It is so important to stay healthy for many reasons, but a healthy body leads to a strong, healthy mind. Drink lots of water. Exercise! Working up a sweat and getting some fresh air are highly creative ways to find inspiration. Sometimes, going through the motions of your day to day life doesn’t allow you much time to get your creative juices flowing. You are so wrapped up in your daily tasks that you don’t have time to focus on inspiration or creativity.
6. Take Breaks
Breaks are crucial! I try to use a 45/15 rule, work 45 minutes and then I take a break for 15. This gives your mind a break and allows you time to refocus. Following this rule, keeps me from getting headaches from staring at my computer screen too long. I like to take time to play with my boys. It always helps relax and rejuvenate me.
Don’t be afraid to take more time off than 15 minutes. I have gone two weeks without writing any new content and it really helped me reconnect with my why. Yes, my engagement dropped a bit in those two weeks, but not as much as I was

7. Reflect Constantly
Think about your day. Did you accomplish what you wanted to accomplish? Is your schedule working? Or do you need to switch a few things up? This helps you account for your time and then you can evaluate what needs to be changed.
8. What Makes You Happy?
I always try to step back when I am not feeling inspired or motivated to write and evaluate whether writing still makes me happy. Yes, I am doing this to try and make some money for my family, however, I LOVE writing. I don’t want this to ever feel like just a job. I want to still have fun blogging, no matter what my numbers say.

9. Read
Reading is extremely inspirational and motivational for me. I try to always have a book with me, no matter where I go. Sometimes it only takes one word or one sentence to push you forward, one step closer to completing your goals.
10. Money
There is a reason that I put this one last. I don’t believe that money should be your only or main motivation, but it can be helpful. I know that when I started my blog it was a small motivator for me because I wanted to be able to do something that I love and still help out my family financially.
What tips do you have for finding inspiration?

“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31

These tips are perfection. They are so important not only for blogging inspiration but for living life to the fullest.
Thank you! That is so sweet!

You are so welcome!
Thanks for reading! 🙂 Glad you enjoyed it!
Definitely take breaks, how can you get ideas to write if you don’t live? #kcacols
Exactly!! 🙂
I have all my best ideas when out on a run, exercise really is inspirational! #KCACOLS
I agree!
Great tips. Particularly the one about prioritising. I think we all get caught up in the thoughts that we MUST do everything, which is not useful.
#KCACOLS
I agree! We get caught up in the “image” and it isn’t even accurate. I try really hard not to compare myself to other moms.
Travelling to a foreign country gives me pleasure that is incomparable to any other joy. It’s my greatest source of inspiration.

These are such good tips for me at the moment as after PND my motivation to write has just plummeted, I am slowly getting back in the swing of things but mainly just trying to take enjoyment in reading, and music is always my inspiration 🙂 #KCACOLS
These are all lovely tips – both for blogging and for life in general! #KCACOLS
Thank you!
Brilliant advice Lana, thank you so much for sharing! I use music a lot, and I try to write lists but am finding it difficult to prioritise what goes on the list and in what order, so sometimes I feel it works better for me to just pick one thing that needs doing and get on with it. I could do with being more structured in life, but that has sadly never been my strong point and will likely continue to be a bit of a struggle for me. I keep trying though! Thanks again for another inspirational post! xx #KCACOLS
You are so welcome! And I think that is great. It’s really about finding what works for you and moving forward!
These are all wonderful ideas and ways to stay inspired. I myself use many of them! I wrote a very similar post about this ages ago. I believe this will help someone get over their writers block as well. #KCACOLS
Thank you! That’s awsome! Great minds think alike! 🙂
I’ve only just begun my blogging journey, and your blog has help me tremendously.
